FROM THE LVCCM PALANCA CHAIR
Greetings LVCCM Community! God loves you and He “likes” you!
Did you know that God not only loves YOU… He likes you! Think about it, as Christians we know
the bible tells us that God loves us, however, have you ever asked yourself “does He like me?"
I think of one of the first Christian songs that I sang as little girl was the song "Jesus Loves me." It
was written by Anna Bartlett Warner, which is still one of my favorites. Honestly it really
wasn’t until I became an adult was I able to fully grasp and comprehend the depth of that song.
I knew the bible said that God loved me however, I never gave much thought to whether he
liked me or not. If someone would have pressed me about it, I might have concluded that he
“somewhat liked me." I don’t think I would have been able to say he liked me through and
through. It was only after I truly experienced His total unconditional, overwhelming and
abundant love, could I say with all honesty, YES, God likes me. He approves of me. I am one of
his creations. He likes spending time with me. He likes it when I intentionally take time to be
still with him as he speaks to me through my prayer time and his word.
I didn’t come to that conclusion on the basis of things I had accomplished or actions I might
take in the future. No, I came to that conclusion because I had a new understanding and
appreciation of God’s Grace at work in my heart which intensified my desire to know him better
each day. The fact is it truly isn’t because of anything I might have done to win His love,
approval or what I thought I might accomplish in my future. No, He would still love me (and like
me). Side note, I am fully aware that God’s desire for me is to align my life with His word in
order for me to grow my faith and become all that I can be through him. I claim His promises to
show me how to do that and he is doing so every day.
What’s reassuring to me is that He knows I make mistakes, but He sees my heart and my desire
to seek Him and His word tells me that His love for me will never change. You see His love is not
determined by my faithfulness but His.
In case you need a reminder today of God’s love for you, I invite you to consider John 15:9-17.
These verses speak clearly about the love and friendship we have with God through Jesus.
These verses tell us that Jesus is the best friend we could ever have. He loves us just the way we
are. Best friends not only love each other they like each other! My prayer for you is that you
truly know that God not only loves you, HE LIKES YOU!
